Cicerone Entornos Interactivos
CICERONE ENTORNOS INTERACTIVOS S.L. was founded in 2002 to create new ICT based tourism infrastructures. The company´s flagship product is the Cicerone auto-guide system, a tool that allows visitors to learn about a particular destination, while at the same time enabling communication between tourism agent and tourist. The system allows tourism business agents to gather and analyse a large amount of information on the perferences and habits of the tourists who visit their areas. Basically, the system uses two technologies which are widely prevalent today: mobile telephony and the Internet. The project won a prize at Turideia, a competition designed to promote tourism-related business ideas and projects organised by the Gipuzkoa Chamber of Commerce in 2001, and at a competition of Internet-related business ideas sponsored by KUTXA.
