European Project (CEN/ISSS)

CICtourGUNE plays an active role in the standardisation of tourism information as a member of the eTOUR project team. This workshop, an initiative of CEN/ISSS, European Committee for Standardization (CEN), focuses on standardising aspects related to information and communication technologies (Information Society Standardization System).

CEN/ISSS provides market stakeholders with a wide variety of standardisation products and services to contribute to the success of the Information Society in Europe. One of the activities of the Committee is to organise workshops to promote the standardisation of technologies used in certain areas of the Information Society. The initiative gave rise to a CEN Workshop on eTourism, with the involvement of different experts from the tourism and technology industry. The workshops are created for the purpose of reaching consensus on a European level on various issues subject to standards. The results are documented in a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) or book of good practices to help overcome problems that stem from a lack of standards.
