First International Conference on the Measurement and Economic Analysis of Regional Tourism
First International Conference on the Measurement and Economic Analysis of Regional Tourism to take place in San Sebastian, Spain 27 and 28 October 2009 The first in a series of international conferences designed and organized by Spain´s National Tourism Administration and the International Network on Regional Economics, Mobility and Tourism (INRouTe), the First International Conference on the Measurement and Economic Analysis of Regional Tourism will take place in San Sebastian, Spain on 27 and 28 October 2009. Officially launched by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in association with two Spain-based entities, CICtourGUNE and Araldi, INRouTe is expected to become the international reference on all matters relating to the measurement of tourism as an economic activity and the analysis of mobility at the regional level. An expert knowledge-driven network, INRouTe has the ambition to bring together a wide yet complimentary diversity of technicians, scholars, practitioners and industry professionals to share information, practices and experiences that will encourage comparative analyses, strengthen the scientific foundation of tourism, and provide guidance to the competitive position of tourism destinations and service providers. In short, INRouTe strives to a) promote a multidisciplinary research approach in tourism, b) favour the exchange of information and best practices between individual experts, private and public entities, and c) facilitate learning and training opportunities. The conference held October 27-28th will include specific papers of interest, invited speakers and open discussion on various topics related to the measurement and economic analysis of regional tourism. Each day of the conference has been devoted to either a technical or institutional perspective.
